3D Virtual World Twinity enables Mobile Payments

3D online social community Twinity, a virtual world based on real people and real cities, is letting its members pay for virtual items using their cell phones.

Berlin, 2 September 2010 – 3D online world Twinity, the social community based on real people and realistic replicas of the world’s most vibrant cities, is letting its members pay for virtual items using their cell phones.

From new clothes for their 3D avatar to the latest furniture for the stylish 3D home to thousands of other virtual items, Twinizens from over 50 countries worldwide can now have instant fun by using their cell phones to go on a shopping spree in Twinity.

Twinity utilizes the mobile payment system of mopay web. The UI integration into the Twinity Global purchase on twinity.com provides members with a mobile payments experience, letting their charges automatically appear on their mobile-phone bill.

“Mobile payment enables our members to use the easiest and most convenient way to purchase Globals to get the latest trends in Twinity”, says Jochen Hummel, CEO of Metaversum, the company behind Twinity.

Twinity makes most of its revenue from the sale of Globals, the world’s virtual currency, to its members, who use that currency to buy virtual items.

The virtual world Twinity is currently in public beta. Register for free membership at www.twinity.com and start exploring the world today.

The Twinity Monitor on the Opening at Shopowners Centrum

Here’s a great initiative from the community, noted on the Twinity Monitor.

Shopowners Centrum is a portal to Twinizen-owned shops in Twinity. From here you can teleport to many popular stores

Personally, I think that the concept behind Shopowners Centrum is a great idea and will help bring a lot of much-needed attention to businesses owned by users
