Small round of invitations sent out

We’ve just released a small set of invitations, just a couple hundred. Enjoy and welcome to Twinity!

Still waiting for a Twinity invitation? Sorry for the delay…

We know some of you have been waiting a couple of weeks to get into the system. We’re just trying to wrap up a few small issues and then we’ll be sending invitations over the course of the next week. Sorry for the delay, and thanks for sticking with us!

New poll: What is the best time slot for Twinity parties?

We’ve heard from some Twinizens that our normal 7 PM (1900) CET party time doesn’t accommodate them well. So here’s a new poll for the next couple of weeks to get your feedback on it. Vote on the right!

Poll results: How often does Twinity crash?

The results are in:

  • Every time I use it: 43%
  • Every 2-3 times: 25%
  • Every 5 or so times: 18%
  • Hasn’t crashed on me yet: 14%

[Support] SpeedTree issues resolved

We had a few reports over the weekend that after our last round of invitations, people who downloaded the latest Twinity client got errors about SpeedTree when they first launched Twinity. We have reproduced this and fixed the problem. You can either click No, and go through the automatic updates, or simply download the latest client from www.twinity.com.

Twinity - Not Possible IRL

Some nice comments about Twinity from this link:

From Beth:

“I’ve been doing a little peek at Twinity, but it’s in very early Beta. I’ll return when they’ve added an ability to upload content - not just textures - but it looks promising,” said Beth. When I asked what kind of content she was hoping for, she indicated that she’s looking to them to make sound files, 3d builds and eventually scripting uploadable. “At the moment, its textures and webpages on a prim. The webpages on a prim do rock, though,” she added.

Glad you like the webpages on a prim! And other stuff is coming… Remember, it’s still beta! ;-)

And on stability:

I asked if it was stable at present, to which she replied, “Nope - you’ve got to have a patience of a saint.”

This is only fair. We’re working hard on this, and early results show positive results from the April 9 update, even if you do have to download the client again.

[Support] Twinity update done - new login and privacy settings, release notes sent

Dear Twinizens,

Related to the updated naming system, we have a few things to tell you about how to log in to Twinity now:

  1. You need you use your email address instead of your username. You’ll see that in the login form both on www.twinity.com and in the Twinity client.
  2. You need to log in once on www.twinity.com and set your privacy settings. As soon as you log in on www.twinity.com, you will be automatically taken to a form to set privacy for your name display, your birth date display and your online status display.

Additionally, I have sent release notes to the Twinity-beta mailing list with information about what is included in this update.

Thanks!

- jeremy
